Meanwhile, I think iOS 6 maps are a huge step forward — if you ignore the underlying data errors (which is just data: easy to fix).

@wilshipley@danielpunkass Seems like if their plan was to iterate from feedback they would have built a much better feedback reporter. - View other replies

@mjtsai@wilshipley I think this is one of the ways forward if they want to accelerate with engineering. -
@danielpunkass@mjtsai@wilshipley The problem is, I don’t think they expected to need to solicit major feedback. -
@incanus77@danielpunkass@mjtsai I don’t have any data on way or another, and wouldn’t speculate. - View other replies

@wilshipley@danielpunkass@mjtsai Proven models for good feedback collection (@openstreetmap for open, Google for closed silo) exist.

@wilshipley@danielpunkass If Apple had labeled maps as a beta, would it have given them an out? -
@lvdjgarcia@danielpunkass Maybe? But that’d be a huge step for them.

@wilshipley@danielpunkass They actually have a really good feedback system in place. Are users truly willing to so so, however? - View other replies

@jhollington@wilshipley Right - the willingness to do so is the smart engineering problem. -
@danielpunkass@wilshipley It’s a social engineering problem, however, which Apple is traditionally good at.
