How do you measure a man? Inches? Oh, ok, I wasn’t expecting such an easy answer. Anyhow, I write software and try to think about life. I have OCD and 3 cats.

    Swift 1.2: my code code runs up to 10x faster than 1.1 unoptimized, up to 8x faster optimized. (Some routines run in the same time.)

        @wilshipley @greenisus What's your 140 char opinion of Swift vs Objective-C after 1.2?

        @vwadhwani I'm still at a point where I know how to do more things in Obj-C but I'm definitely enjoying some of Swift's conventions

        @greenisus Not yet.. I mostly do ruby & devops but have been considering dipping my toe in. Trying to decide which to learn.

        @vwadhwani I found Swift to slightly remind me of Ruby. I think learning either is fine because most of the work is learning Cocoa.

        @wilshipley @antonyboudouvas - Wow, how is that possible when they said Swift was close to C++ speed already?

        @Dewey2000 @wilshipley I think it will be a while before it achive such honor! But for v. 1.2 is an impressive work .

        @antonyboudouvas @wilshipley - Yeah, just joking! At first I thought Swift was a dumb idea, but now, it's looking brilliant!

        @Dewey2000 @wilshipley Thanks but the only purpose for this re-write was to get familiar with Swift & Apple tooling again. Totally worth it!

      @wilshipley @clattner_llvm aka, it *used* to be slow? ;) I wonder where it would sit in this diagram: http://benchmarksgame.alioth.debian.org/u64/code-used-time-used-shapes.php …
