How do you measure a man? Inches? Oh, ok, I wasn’t expecting such an easy answer. Anyhow, I write software and try to think about life. I have OCD and 3 cats.

        @wilshipley @MichaelTyson but doesn't the whole IAP System allow for paid upgrades? No?

        @boone51 Not easily. It’s very hard to write an upgrade to a productivity app and say: here are the “new” features and here’s “old” stuff.

        @wilshipley it just seems like the vehicle is there though. Whether or not its been utilized in an effective way is debatable I guess.

        @boone51 The vehicle is there but it’s hard to park.

        @wilshipley @codinghorror there's a mechanism for that; it's called in app purchase

      2. Wil Shipley ‏@wilshipley 29 Dec 2014

        @ozkanaltuner @codinghorror It’s almost impossible to do a decent revision of an app with in-app purchase.

        @wilshipley @codinghorror you need to start developing your app w/ correct monetization model in mind, then it's feasible to continue it

        @ozkanaltuner I’ve been writing apps a long time. Certainly I have a lot still to learn, but I’m pretty confident the current system sucks.

        .@wilshipley @codinghorror not having paid upgrades is a feature and Apple has said as much.

        @magicbeef It’s an idiotic feature and needs to be fixed.

        @wilshipley @codinghorror I think similar can be said for @Google’s Play Store as well. Great points! Impressed by the clarity of few words

        @wilshipley @Spacekatgal I guess you’re assuming that their intention is NOT to have crapware + huge software houses like EA?

        @batasrki Whether or not it’s intentional, it needs fixing.

        @wilshipley @CraigGrannell er, what about people who use IAP?

      2. Wil Shipley ‏@wilshipley 7 Jan 2015

        @nicholaslovell @craiggrannell In-app purchase doesn’t really address me changing the interface and functionality of an app.

        @wilshipley Suggestion for the future: split up stuff that fairly clearly will require separate fixes into separate radars.

        @iollmann that wasn't the radar, it was my response to an App Store survey that got sent out.
