I live in what is basically a retirement village, and they're having a gathering at the hall for the coronation today where people are asked to dress as if they were attending the actual ceremony. I have instead dressed as if I was selling DVDs in the car park. It's been noticed.

Oh Buddy. You’ve done more than make them think about it. You’ve bonded them forever in a group text where one of them will share a wedding photo or promotion news and one of the others will say “i don’t know, SMELLS LIKE FAILURE.” And then they’ll all die laughing.

I mean, can anyone else say they have a friendship like the one Clarence Thomas has with Harlan Crow? A friend you met when he gave you a ride on his private jet, who's also your mom's landlord but doesn't charge her rent and pays for a family member's tuition?

Jordan Neely was a New Yorker.
He was a person.
When he began to suffer from mental illness the city’s social safety net failed him, as it had failed countless others.
When he exhibited signs of his mental illness in public he was murdered on the F train.

1) Something (very stupid) you’re going to see over the next weeks are people arguing that screenwriters are being unreasonable. “Times have changed”. No. Times WERE changed. By SOMEBODY. By PEOPLE, making CHOICES.

Hey - yes John and I used to be married. We are now friends and share a wonderful son together. In this context I am not an “ex wife,” I am a veteran journalist with decades of experience who worked hard for this role. Do better please.

the NYPD is on pace to blow past its allotted overtime budget for FY2023 by ~$366 million which is 16X what it would cost to keep public libraries open on the weekends. Keep in mind, $366 million isn’t their OT budget, it’s what the NYPD went OVER their allotted OT budget ($374M)

A nation in which fundamental rights depend on where you live is no longer a nation in the same sense of the word. Borders between states are no longer just easy to miss highway signs. Conservatives who claim to love America fail to understand they may have fractured it fatally.

It's past time to say "fascism." Not as a baggy charge but as the correct term for a movement built on personality cult, violence as pleasure, "transgression," white supremacy, & fetishized "innocence." Glad I was able to do so on PBS .

Some reporters will argue that it's not their place to describe something as fascist. That they can simply describe the actions. This, to me, is like trying to talk about the history of segregation without talking about race. It's bad history. Inadequate reporting. 6/

The extent and frequency of these apparent gifts to Thomas has no known precedent in modern SCOTUS history... 🧵👇

The real scandal in the awful Marjorie Taylor Greene interview is that Lesley Stahl didn't seem to grasp that "pedophile" is a longtime anti-LGBTQ hate trope. She called it "name-calling." This sanitizes an ugly bigoted smear that goes back many years:
