Netflix had a tough 2022 on many fronts, but launching big, commercial hits wasn't one of them. I talked to the streamer's head of U.S. scripted series about #Wednesday, Ryan Murphy, binge vs. weekly, and whether he wants 100-ep sitcoms. New #Buffering!

Lest I seem to be focusing my ire entirely at #WB100, the Disney: 100 Years of Wonder video included a clip of PEYTON PLACE — a 20th Century Fox TV show Disney acquired in 2019 (and will probably never do anything with). Pretty sure they're just trolling me here. #Disney100

Disney similarly did their legacy dirty with their #Disney100 video... but at least HBO Max might stream older titles... 11 minute video, 5 pre 1980 shows (most weirdly from 20th Century Fox...) and like 8 movies from 1940-1980. Horrendous work. youtube.com/watch?v=Uk_OO4

Am gifting this link through my subscription. Fascinating story about the first woman animator, Bessie Mae Kelley, and the animation scholar who discovered and is telling her story. It's not to be missed. Check out this article from .

“It was originated by Busby Berkeley, who...I consider the best musical-comedy director ever.” — Jackie Gleason, on the June Taylor Dancers’ kaleidoscopic choreography and overhead camera shots

Remembering June Taylor, Jackie Gleason's choreographer, born OTD in 1917. When I was a wee one, few things were more exciting than when the director cut to an overhead shot of the June Taylor Dancers, always to great applause. She died in 2004.

Here’s Stuart Margolin, in 1989, talking about the creative process. Also worth a read: comments on the video, including a few folks who met or worked with him and just rave about what a good man he was.
