A1 my brother and I started a site. It needed Seo - and we got to 1m a year in maybe 4-5 years (this was 1999 we started!) Then .. we realised it could convert better, so off I went down the cro path. And then we needed links so o went down the content strategy path

That's the way to learn, get your hands dirty. You don't learn by just reading guidelines. You need to get into the weeds to learn true SEO. #VCBuzz

Absolutely. The great thing for me was I saw both the business and marketing angles. The business gives you the “why” with marketing giving you the “how”

I also recommend practicing both in-house and on the agency side. Very different experience, different expectations.

For the past 10 years, my advice to entry level people on how to get ahead quickly has been to setup their own website and get keywords ranked and generate traffic. Those who followed that advice are mounds ahead of those who didn't.

Agree. I also see a big problem for newcomers getting to biased based on information they simply read on documentation and guidelines, mostly outdated, and many not tried-and-trued.
