It is misleading to state as fact that “puberty blockers are reversible”. No one knows if the physical and psychological impacts of halting normal puberty are reversible. >>

The science you refer to supporting puberty blockers is highly contested (because it’s largely absent). Your guidelines support puberty blocker use based on a single study of 55 kids with gender dysphoria that had no counseling-only arm. >>

One problem with implementing any treatment based off of low-quality evidence is that there is a high likelihood for mistakes to be made. In this instance, it seems likely that your guidelines contain major errors. >>

We are seeing the consequence of such a possibility: many are stepping forward and reporting that they did not receive adequate counseling for their distress, and that hormones and surgery did not help their gender dysphoria. The numbers are significant. >>
