Desistance occurs “around or after puberty”. *Some* might desist in early puberty, but certainly not all, and no one knows who or when. >>
This means kids who would have desisted in late puberty, or after puberty, have been put on hormonal protocols that will make some of them infertile, etc. >>
This must be hard to face. No doctor goes into medicine wanting to harm people. This is why I place most blame at the feet of our medical societies for their full advocacy of the affirming model.>>
As a result, doctors are largely unaware of desistance figures and other psychological support models besides affirmation, or have a skewed understanding of the topic. I hope to see these societies held accountable for this epic failure someday. ///
Does this study that references numerous studies over the last 30 years conflate gender identity disorder and gender dysphoria? I thought the high desistance rate in studies before the early 2010's didn't have the strict criteria that GD was "the desire to be the opposite sex"
Though I think it is clear that the for gender dysphoric kids the desire to be the opposite sex either grows or diminishes around puberty so that does check out.
What you mean that the majority of children "grow out of it"? How will children hormonally and/or surgically altered "grow out of it"? How will children grow out of it when peers have encouraged the entrenchment of their GD?
