Our constitution is based on rights beyond those given by a nation state. However, there are limits in some cases. We don't have the right to enter other's property without permission. Our federal laws limit immigation and the penalty for illegally doing so is a felony charge.

So basically, the US government is saying they can enforce US law anywhere in the world, while simultaneously claiming, US laws don't apply outside the US.

That’s exactly what they are saying. The propaganda machine has been very convincing in trashing Assange to the extent that nobody gives a toss. All the while, they’re setting a precedent that affects any country with an extradition treaty with the US. Scary stuff.
