Same goes for spilling, staining their clothes, loosing money etc. These are all things that happen in adulthood that no one is punished for. So why are you beating the tiny human? What lesson are you teaching? Don’t do it again? Don’t do what? Make mistakes? Because newsflash...

Think the point is "Listen here bucko life's tuff, be careful"
-
Nope. I disagree wholeheartedly. The scenario I painted in my tweet most certainly does not have a “life’s tough” moral lesson. They broke a plate.

I remember breaking a plate this Christmas and just staring for a minute, like.. why was this a punishable act when I was little?
-
A plate nearly dropping from my hands led to this tweet. If it had fallen I’d have swept it up no biggie but as a kid... Nope.

I feel pained in retrospect.

Right! So someone was just hitting me/yelling at me/making serve punishment over this NON-ISSUE. Damn.

My first plate breaking experience as a child, I broke 5 plates at the same time. I asked my mom, "why are you shouting, have I broken plate in this house before?" A slap should have followed but surprisingly she laughed.
-
I’ve done that with my mum lately like mummy would I EVER do this on purpose? Why are you angry? Like who in their right mind would just go and break 5 plates at a time. Clearly an accident. Parents need to calm the fuck down.

This is so valid. If my mother smacked the shit out of my every time I broke a plate while washing dishes I would probably be dead. Just correct kids and show them the right way to do things. I promise they are eager to learn how to not disappoint
-
This! Teach them how to do it and every time they’ll come running like see I kept the plate without breaking it! People really like to act like kids are morons.
