Totally not a believer. I am sure it is helpful for blind people, such a shame the SOCKETS aren't similarly identified.
iirc horizontal sockets are supposed to be logo up, and vertical sockets the logo should face towards the front of the device Enough devices break the rule that you'd never know it's a thing unless someone told you though.
They provide tactile feedback in the form of bumping into the connector and failing to go in

And Motorola decided that phones should only be charged face-down, so their USB micro-B ports were the reverse of everyone else on this convention.
