i just want to make a 3d model real quick but i end up figuring out how to debug the linux kernel infrastructure for direct rendering. why do these things keep happening to me

I wonder if this is one of those very rare cases it would make sense to hop to windows since the tooling could be better there

see the thing is... if I switch mesa to use llvmpipe-based software rendering the leak disappears. so this isn't a gl leak. this is an i965 driver memory leak. i am guessing it keeps references to some gem buffers somehow, which also means i can't use kmemleak

if it's an nvidia gpu you could try nvprof

i965 and the leak disappears if i switch to software rendering so i think it's an i965 bug
