my favorite IARC Group I carcinogen is estradiol. the risk is dose-dependent and well demonstrated, so obviously we should make mass sterilization a public health priority. not

I'm pretty sure the IARC classification does more harm than good today, given how journalists always go "omg cancer" and never look into the actual risk. isn't the fault of the scientists who came up with it but we should retire it anyway.

instead of retiring a scientific classification tool, should we educate better instead? Or, create another tool, layered above IARC, for journalists and lay people to properly evaluate the practical risk
