hm i thought cats don't have very good kidneys and thus should avoid salty foods. i'm not a cat nutrition expert or anything though

I thought it was their poor sense of thirst that lead to bad kidneys. I can't find any references for that, so it's probably hearsay.

afaik that's the other way around. their kidneys work very hard to avoid water loss to let them get all necessary water from meat, which makes them susceptible to all sorts of damage kidney failure is a common cause of death

Okay, thanks for the info. I knew many felines had problems with the kidneys, but didn't know what was going on with that. More fresh water for her bowl!
