Oh, just what I wanted, to fight with a twisty maze of broken vendor- and gem-installed ruby packages in order to get back to being able to run jekyll --serve like I asked
shouldn't you use bundler for this? shouldn't jekyll already be using bundler?..

try running `bundle exec jekyll --serve`, chances are that'll just work. if it doesn't, forget i said this
