piping git log to head -n 1 is faster than git log -1 what
-
-
how are you measuring it?
-
repeatedly running `time` on it
-
specifically time bash -c 'git log --pretty=%ci | head -n 1'
-
I've ran this and the pipe-less one a bunch of times and I think there's just too much noise for the difference to be properly visible? I'm thinking you need a loop to measure this with a higher SNR
-
on my work machine it's seemingly consistently 0.01s or 0.02s faster
