it was only slightly hot, not overloaded, not abused. it just... decided to not work anymore. rip

does anyone in arduino land read past the pinout page of the datasheet

a 2 A max stepper driver over a 3 A per isolated pin connector specced for 1.7 A steppers, with a current trimpot that has a quadratic range of 0-4 A so you get only 1/4 turn of adjustment, with QFN sink pad not soldered to a plane, instead a tiny heatsink glued on top of it…

plugged into a backplane where only a singe connector out of a dozen has a key and the rest are all just kinda placed randomly without shrouds or, mostly, spacing between them with microscopic pin 1 markings that don't match the mating board and point in arbitrary direction…

honestly this is already too horrifying to continue, how does any of this work, ever, for anyone

if you want a decent board, either https://reprap.org/wiki/4pi or the smoothieboard will do the trick
-
the 4pi is my personal favourite, but i'm not sure there are very many of them in existence, and i have a smoothieboard v1 that i'm yet to start using both have proper stepper drivers (and, disclaimer: were designed by friends i worked with closely in my RepRap days)
