I talked to some faculty at Hamline about what it's been like, what they want, how they are preparing for class in a week.

NEW: Two professors at #HamlineUniversity speak out. The senior Hamline administration should, but won't, say: "We messed up. This was wrong. We shouldn't have said Islamophobic. We shouldn't have said either/or feelings or academic freedom." patreon.com/posts/77248683

A screenshot of two quotes: “We're pissed,” said Professor A, “because there was some email that was to the faculty, summing up with [a statement] like “we all can grow and learn together.” And we all obviously should always be growing and learning together. But this isn't like it's on all of us. Now it's just everybody has to solve it without the administration ever saying: ‘We messed up. This was wrong. We shouldn't have said Islamophobic. We shouldn't have said either/or feelings or academic freedom.’ And it doesn't seem that they're going to do that.” AND Prof B: ", “We need to zero in on the two issues most salient in the public (and campus) debates: the lesson was called Islamophobic in campus communications, and we used language that academic freedom can and should be "superseded" in some instances. What I and many colleagues want to see from our senior administrators is a clear, consistent apology."

I've just listened to the podcast episode linked in the tribute. Heroic and clear-eyed, certainly, but what struck me was her frank acknowledgment that the level of medical care she'd received is out of reach to most in this country. rocketmotivation.libsyn.com/still-fighting

I did not know Tracy Koogler well, and learned of her death only last night. Such an extraordinary soul! She made a difference in this world. uchicagomedicine.org/forefront/news

One of the most horrifying things I've ever read right here. Should never happen in this country, or anywhere else.

THIS is one of the most shocking jail lawsuits I've seen: An mentally ill man with an IQ of 55 who was being held on $1000 bail literally *starved to death* in an Arkansas jail. They put him in solitary, he decompensated - and he died. THREAD: documentcloud.org/documents/2357

It appears the NHL has gotten into a conflict with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The NHL was scheduled to host a job fair in Florida calling for diverse candidates from underrepresented groups to apply, which DeSantis called "discriminatory prohibitions."

She's calling in every political favor and spending all her political capital on this nomination, which is opposed by half the Dems in the state Senate, many reproductive rights orgs and most unions. She's turned it into the highest-profile fight since Cuomo's resignation.

I’m in the Bronx with leaders and advocates to make clear: The Honorable Hector D. LaSalle is the best person to serve as Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. Watch live: twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1
