Afghan forces have been on the offensive in northeastern Badakshan prov for the past 2 weeks, scoring major victories against the TB. After Wurduj district,today they breached Taliban defencelines in Yamgan, the two districts that were under Taliban control for the past 5 years.

Kudos to the ANDSF but most of the territorial gains have followed a massive US bombing campaign that have caused the TB/FF to abandon their positions and flee. The reason the CDOs entered Chakaran without taking any casualties was because it had been abandoned
The TB/FF have never faced an onslaught like this in Badakhshan. There’s not a lot of cover and it’s sparsely populated so relatively few villages to shelter in (plus civilian casualties probably not the foremost concern at the moment).
