The postcode will still be needed for basic sorting and grouping of mail. However combined with W3W it becomes much more useful.

My postcode is useless, it takes you about 100 yards past our house

Our rural postcode extends a mile, covering 4 different roads. Unhelpfully
@RoyalMail didn't add the road name to individual addresses so deliveries are lost. If@RoyalMail won't adapt, others like@googlemaps &@TomTom will, and tech savvy couriers like @DPD_UK will follow. -
It just makes sense...if someone orders something online but knows that they'll be out at the time of delivery why rely on a postcode that covers X dozen properties when you can use the
@what3words system and get it precisely directed to the front door, back door, shed etc!

The postcode was never meant to be use for navigation. It is for sorting post. Regardless of how cool it is, W3W is a solution to a problem that should never have been.
