      112 and 999 are the only emergency numbers that are recognised in the UK. Some telephone handsets will recognise other numbers as an attempt to call an emergency number, and translate that into whatever the local number is. It will show 'Attempting emergency call'.

      It’s a commercial company that charges emergency providers to use the service. If it was a not for profit, I’d maybe be a fan.
