'It's a very accurate, quick way to explain to someone where you are.' Kayaker Jason Woodhouse tells @SkyNewsNiall the importance of downloading the @what3words app which helps emergency services rescue people from dangerous situations. #KayBurley http://trib.al/aOJJvv8 pic.twitter.com/cCnquMFDBx

I really don't understand why anyone pushes this nonsense - if you have the app on your phone and have access at the time of an emergency, then you could just open your maps and see where you are or get your GPS position. As for 'more accurate than GPS' That is just plain false

Hi Bill, what3words doesn't require a phone signal to work, you can also use what3words in @viewranger | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-gedOuXVlk … | or simply send people a link which will open the wha3words map browser.

Or you can provide a grid reference which the vast majority of people enjoying outdoor activities will be aware of, and can link in beautifully between a paper map and an app on a device. There is no need to over complicate things.
