From a police perspective, yes we do. It’s integrated with our C&C system to give a location. I’m a die hard map and grid ref sort of person so took a while to come round to W3W, thinking there was nothing wrong with promoting OS Grid Finder app etc.

So W3W is less relevant. Trained officers can/could pass decent locations, hopefully. W3W is niche, it’s proved useful on, for example, the A303, where people struggle to pass locations.

I’m a fan. But passing locations between dispatch and police resources shouldn’t need W3W. If the location is being shared electronically, as it should be, W3W provides no advantage.

I’ve had an idea for a community card for a while - recorded 20 houses location in our village and will give each house a card with their
@what3words address - many are older folk, they can use that it calling@swasFT and might make it easier to find the house, often unnumbered - Show replies
