Terence Eden added,
Interesting. We recently assisted a fallen walker on a 999 call. He didn't know where he was. We offered to give W3W location to the operative, but she wasn't interested (said "not accurate enough"). We were surprised. I guess this is why.
I know they also charge for its usage, which given why it's being used is incredibly shitty! (it's favoured in Girlguiding circles as it's easier for girls to remember, but I'd much prefer they/we taught them to read co-ordinates instead!)
Who is being charged? Do the emergency services have to pay? I just have a free app that seems to work. (I could have given GPS co-ords as an alternative, but just assumed W3W was easier as had seen the publicity about it.)
To clarify; what3words does not charge UK emergency services to use the system.
