Thanks. I still wish I’d had it though. It costs me nothing and the emergency services operator (in Norfolk) asked specifically whether any of us had it on our phones to pinpoint the location of the accident on a B road several miles from nearest villages.

I can only repeat what I have been told by (more than one) police officers. If your service is not charging UK emergency services, or their call handling services, then that's very good to hear. It is a commercial service, and it is free to end users.
