Fabrice Bellard achieves almost x3 speedup for transformer inference on the GPU using 4-bit quantization compared to FP16 Does anyone know if such improvement can be achieved on the CPU with proper quantization implementation or this works only on GPUs? textsynth.com/technology.html

And whisper.cpp v1.1.0 is now available! In this release we improve the decoding algorithm and implement most of the heuristics from the original implementation. Feedback about the performance is much appreciated!

Wow, 4 years later, the MineRL Diamond challenge has been solved *without demonstrations* 🤯! In 2019, the best solutions used many priors and demos but still couldn’t solve the task. In 2022, VPT was the 1st method to collect diamonds, but with demos + IDM. Congrats DreamerV3!

If you're ready to join a driven and talented team and experience the benefits of working in Tahoe (skiing, no crime, actual mental clarity, beaches, not stepping on sh*t on the sidewalk, mountain biking, access to SF/Reno), send me a DM.

We’re building our company 3 hours outside of the bay for a reason: Tahoe is a unique and breathtaking place to live and work. Being in nature provides an extreme amount of clarity, focus, and calm, which has enabled us to accomplish so much in such a short time.

Humanity is on the cusp of practically limitless energy via nuclear fusion and basically nobody is talking about it, which is nuts. I left working in fusion because I was skeptical of the field's ability to progress, but my mind has totally changed (1/n)

We’ve launched the MineRL BASALT competition on learning from human feedback! I’m especially excited about this because it mimics the situation we face in realistic settings much more than other benchmarks. I hope to see many of you participating!

The problem with the copilot example: if my model outputs "for (var=i; i<x.length; i++)" is it infringing copyrights? If a human (also "trained" on lines of code) does that, is it "original"? How about text models like GPT3? Can people own combos of words? IP law is not prepared.

I am extremely excited about this and the technology underneath it — we are seeing the inverse in automation of what we had anticipated, “technical information centric” jobs will be automated before physical ones.
