Ouma, a farmer in Niger, stands in her fields next to other small-scale farmers from the Tahoua region. They wear dust masks and hold other equipment provided by WFP under an EU-funded project for the production of quality crops to be used in the production of infant formula or community food.

Global food prices remain significantly high. The Black Sea Grain Initiative is a crucial part of the global response to the #FoodCrisis. Since its signing, WFP has moved over 380,000 MT of wheat from Ukraine to our operations in #Ethiopia, #Yemen, #Afghanistan and #Somalia.
WFP loads its first vessel "Brave Commander" in Pivdennyi port, Odesa, in August 2022. The WFP-chartered vessel "Brave Commander" is the first humanitarian cargo vessel to arrive in Ukraine's Black Sea Ports since the start of the war, under the recent Black Sea Grain initiative.
WFP grain is offloaded as it arrives at Hodeidah port coming from Ukraine for humanitarian response in Yemen. The first ship, the “MV Brave Commander” berthed in Hodeidah port on 15 October carrying 14,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat flour milled in Turkey. The total amount of grain arriving will support nearly 4 million people in Yemen for one cycle and help WFP address immediate gaps in assistance.

1 in 3 people in #SriLanka is food insecure amid an economic crisis. Skyrocketing prices, shortages, and income losses pushed nutritious food out of reach for many, like Minabige and her daughter. WFP is working to reach 3.4 million people with food and nutrition support.
Minabige, 49, feed her daughter Darhika, 9, on the steps of their home in Sri Lanka. With her husband and two daughters, the family of four live in a cramped one room shack. Amid the economic crisis, women and children from poor rural and urban households who rely on national social safety net programmes have been left without help.
