At work I’m using Slack, Mattermost, and Mailspring. Just Mattermost at home.

Yeah I could (and did) use each just in the browser but it’s nice having them seperate and there’s just enough benefits: features (Slack), works offline (Mailspring) to make it worthwhile.

If you are talking about RAM, each browser is just few MB.

Electron is a full instance of chrome so you typically have a UI process and a bunch of worker process. It ends up being a lot more expensive than just another tab.
