🍃 I made a little task tracking app to replace my use of Wunderlist. It's called Leaf. I use it to remember posts I read on my phone for publishing to @readrust. Leaf is written in @rustlang using Rocket and uses CSV for persistence. https://github.com/wezm/leaf pic.twitter.com/tt46fqCYjD

Cool! I wanted to try but the argon2 keeps saying: salt too short. Is it also possible to run without password?

Thanks for trying it out. It’s not possible run without a password at the moment — I was aiming for secure defaults. I can see how it is a barrier to entry though. Did you use the shell snippet in the README to generate the password hash? What OS and shell are you using?

Cool I use zsh too so it shouldn’t be that. It’s probably the bit that reads from /dev/random since that’s the source of data for the salt. I’ll try it on my Mac and let you know.

      It seems tr doesn't like the binary data. Try this: (read -r PASS; echo -n "$PASS" | argon2 $(cat /dev/urandom | LC_ALL=C tr -dc 'a-zA-Z0-9' | head -c 8) -e) I created an issue as wellhttps://github.com/wezm/leaf/issues/2 …

Thanks that worked. I entered the password 1234. $ export LEAF_PASSWORD_HASH='$argon2i$v=19$m=4096,t=3,p=1$WHhBQ3RUUUE$OnNjGNrpifd0XZkYhduw0bhSF8M0wixnQ1aLrWuEaSw' But now I can't get passed the login form when I enter 1234 :).

Try this LEAF_SECURE_COOKIE=false ./leaf or if you're running from source LEAF_SECURE_COOKIE=false cargo run BTW thanks for testing my documentation. It seems I definitely have some room to make it easier to get started.

Excellent. I’ll have a think about how to make it easier to try out, without giving up secure defaults.
