I seriously considered XPS as a work laptop, but it's aspect ratio made it feel inferior to the MacBook Pro for serious IT work. To me it was more oriented towards watching movies better... which was not my primary use case. I'd rather see more vertical code.
-
I'm not sure that makes sense. The 15" MacBook Pro has a 2880x1800 pixel display. The XPS 15 has a 3840x2160 display, which can show more vertical content despite the 16:9 aspect ratio

Yeah work bought me an XPS 13. Would love if I had administrator access. Also not a huge fan of that little blue ring in the middle. I never use it and it just gets in the way.

Blue ring?

Do you feel it's fast though? Both my 1-year older model and a colleague with your model feels it could be snappier with the hardware... At least they seem to have fixed the quality issues from my model, had 2 on-site repairs (first replace motherboard, then battery swelled up).

Seems fast enough to me. My points of comparison are the 2013 Macbook it replaced and an i7 6700K desktop and it sits in the middle.

Looks like you're running a twm? Which one do you use?

No just plain GNOME. I’ve tried tiling windows mangers and concluded I like the idea but in practice I prefer a stacking window manager.
