ripgrep is now in Debian unstable…
Meanwhile it’s been packaged on Arch since September 2016 and FreeBSD since June 2017

Build time or install time? In Debian, we want to be able any package without network access (ie http://crates.io ) and packaging dependencies separately... This is why it took some time to do that correctly!

There are only the two runtime dependencies listed, I assumed the linked page would list build time dependencies too? FreeBSD does it offline as well. They added a Makefile to ports that helps you list all the cargo deps so they can be fetched during the fetch phase.
