walgreens announced a while ago they wont prosecute shoplifters anymore and they opened up the floodgates. Combine that with the lame DA they are getting raped. I stand in line to pay as I watch people walk out with whatever they want.

walrgreens wiped most of the mom and pop shops in the city. The remaining ones are NOT getting robbed like this because they confront the criminals.

Same with Cliff’s Variety in the Castro. It takes people who love their businesses to protect them and stand up to the rodents who are infesting our city.

The problem is corporate policy prevents employees or security guards from kicking ass in large chain stores. Acts of courageous bravery in confronting thieves usually ends in termination of employees.

A Lyft driver who had worked store security told me his job was to protect store employees from assault. When it came to theft, he was explicitly instructed to let the thieves leave with the merchandise. Corporations probably more scared of liability lawsuits than merch loss.
