Having grown up on a council estate, on free school meals, experiencing child poverty in the 1980s, I wouldn’t be where I am today without a great state education. I am absolutely thrilled has asked me to join ’s team as Shadow Minister for Schools.

I don’t find it particularly easy talking about the difficulties my mum faced. She was a wonderful woman. She loved being a nurse and when she fell ill it was the NHS that became her lifeline. The NHS has been there for all of us and we must protect it.

Gavin Williamson has the AUDACITY to criticise PARENTS saying children lacked "order and discipline" during lockdown. This from an Education Secretary whose leadership has been a CHAOTIC SHAMBLES. He should be grovelling to parents for forgiveness for this abysmal record:

  10. It’s outrageous that towns like Accrington were overlooked in the towns fund, yet money is being ploughed into the Chancellor’s leafy Richmond constituency. Another reason for local residents to back on May 6th...

Time & time again, Gavin Williamson has let down children & their families during the pandemic. The Govt's plan now? Blame parents for children lacking "discipline and order" during lockdown. Williamson should apologise for his record, not double down.

Gavin "I swear on my kids lives" Williamson should not lecture parents. My sons were constantly walked up a hill by his government only within hours to be told different. Its not their mobiles that messed them around it's the squalid useless leadership of his Department.

  16. Behind The Bread and Butter Thing is the harsh reality we've got to solve: "I can only go on what families say to us. They tell us they're broke... there isn't enough money to feed the children. They're living on air and water and that's not acceptable." - Dr Anthony Edkins.

  17. This is an amazing scheme that started in and 's patch. supply food parcels worth at least £35 but families pay just £7.50. It's a scheme that bridges the gap between a food bank and a supermarket and reduces food waste.

To friends tweeting pictures with a few flakes of snow - I raise you the Bury blizzard... Thanks to for having me today. It was a pleasure campaigning for our brilliant Moorside and Ramsbottom candidates. Cold weather, but warm response!

So sorry to see this. Chris was a lovely man, very supportive to us in Ilford North, and a real champion for Waltham Forest. Sending lots of love to his family, friends and Labour family x

Slightly better weather this evening in Ramsbottom for our candidate who shares my - and ’s - passion for education and would be a great champion for children and young people on Bury Council.
