If I recall correctly we have a bunch of weird bullshit like this that we inherited from the Brits here in Canada as well (special furniture and such)

I listen to French news podcasts during my nightly walk, and Trudeau gave a speech honoring the Queen in French. Is that a normal Quebecois accent? did he give the same speech in English?

I didn't watch it but in general I think his accent is fairly normal yeah, he's from Montreal after all

With a name like Trudeau you'd think it would be normal, but it sounded not simply weird but more of the flaws of how I mispronounce words.

yeah perhaps, I may not be the right person to ask but you have me curious now. I'm going to ask some of my French Canadian colleagues 😛

I was really curious how he gives the same speech twice. In belgium, the king gave a speech with every paragraph repeated three times (French, Dutch, German). This sounded like a complete speech in French, so I assume he repeated it in English.

Of course, what I want to imagine is he gave the speech only once, honoring the Queen only in French, as a snide insult :-).

nah, I doubt it, it's SOP to give the same speeches in both for politicians here
