The absolutely absurd thing about 80s technology is that my original game boy still worked the last time I tried it, but my phone from 4 years ago is like “lol you think a phone can work for four years? Lmfao”

I mean, the game boy is not an entirely simple machine! There is also a general disposability trend. Like my dishwasher now is just made to be replaced sooner than the one we had when I was growing up, but it effectively has the same complexity.
