Data is a MASS noun. Not singular. Not plural.
"How much data?" sounds natural.
No one says "datum".
Data comes in bytes & terabytes <3
Water comes in cups & acre-feet.
Plural data is a cultural tick of ONE technical field with almost no knowledge of linguistics.
