TIL that plopping a tea bag into a cup of hot water achieves noticeably shittier tea compared to pouring hot water over a tea bag in a cup.
Am sure there is a scientific reason for this but I do not care; am just bummed that tea is not for days when I do not have enough fucks.

I sometimes use my clay teapot even though it's overkill, and I swear it tastes better even though there's no logical reason for it

Actually there might be. I remember reading some experiments some scientists did w.r.t. different ways of making tea. One of the things that consistently made a difference was freshly boiled water vs. reheated water because of oxygen content or something. And other such things.

Well I know for green tea, the exact temperature makes a difference. I'm way too lazy to use a thermometer but I've done it before and it was noticeably better

Yeah things like temperature, when milk (if any) got added and the resultant chemical reactions that took place, shape of a teapot/spout etc. were some of the other factors that they looked into. It was pretty comprehensive and not a 280-char-summary thing.
