Formal methods make your intuition better. With a formal spec, you can explore your system, see how it changes under new conditions, without having to build it first. You can crystalize your thoughts and see exactly what you don't understand.

Formal methods are seductive, but adding them to your regular practice slows you down. You repress your unconscious processing or divert it to proof aesthetics. Intuitiveness is productive; formality is perverse. I'm overstating a bit of course ....
