There are syntax highlighting plugins for React in vim that I've used. Haven't felt the need for anything fancier than that. It's also been a couple years since I actually did anything in React though.

Oh, I think the reason that's hard to do in vim is because doing anything asynchronous in a vim plugin is really hard. It might be better in neovim, but I doubt anyone has implemented that yet.
