Does anyone else miss the experience of renting DVDs? I feel like netflix/bittorrent/high speed internet have destroyed the experience of watching a film for me

I remember I would go to the "independent" section of my local Jumbo Video all the time and discover a lot of weird or interesting films. I feel like that experience has been destroyed by automatic recommendation systems. Let me watch shit that I don't know if I will like

Also video rental places didn't have to negotiate "license deals" just to be able to carry certain films. And (unless they sold it), you could always rent the same movie again if you wanted. Not true at all with Netflix.
