Oculus finally pulled the plug on Perforce for internal development, so now I have no choice but to use Mercurial. Learning new source control or build systems are among my least favorite software development tasks.

Curious, why not use git + some other dev ops tool? What advantages do Perforce/Mercurial offer over the common choices?

Apologies, I may be misunderstanding. Scale what exactly, the code repositories? I feel like that’d only be useful if you have thousands of folks working on the exact same repo. I feel like FB wouldn’t host every service they provide out of a handful of repositories.

I believe this is why Microsoft invented GVFS, because they had too much in one repo
