Yes, the "10xer" is toxic and ultimately destructive and harmful. VCs don't care. They have an incentive for short term unsustainable growth. They love people willing to work insane hours and chug away. This is how startups generate returns ("hockey stick growth")

The VC is hoping that by the time the 10xer burns themself out (or burns out the rest of the team, or all of them) that they will have generated enough growth to be acquired. The VCs do not give a shit about you or how functional your team is. They only care about the bottom line

To sum up: the real issue here isn't whether "10xers" exist. It is that predatory venture capitalists require them to exist
