Read this thread. gives lens to role of physicians using modern tools to advocate for public health & transparency to archaic attacks fr those who dislike her educated, powerful voice. & will change. And will necessitate 1-to-many communication.

This. As I understand the data (and history), conservative guidelines w risk-stratification will cause more harm than good.

Data privacy and HIPAA compliance are obviously elemental. But cannot be used as an excuse not to allow patients, and those who love them, a view into their info, physicians’ insights, and labs/path/radiology studies. Period.

Hospital boards run financing and MUST prioritize patient access and transparency. Must demand patient data be owned by patients. Must easily allow caregivers into data (w permission). A friends and family plan...

There are lists of excuses why systems don’t invest and improve the way we communicate what we know (and what we don’t) w patients and other stakeholders in their health care.

It’s as bad as skeptics suspect. I’d really like to help make it better. No question that communication technology (EHR, social tools, education software, telemed, etc) really could help patients & clinicians more than it does.

In Switzerland on a work trip. It’s ranked as #1 country to live and raise children. Yum Side note: have been absolutely cringing @ the EHR news coming fr home. Opioid Rx kickbacks? Work to block proposed legislation affording improved access & function to patient data (EHR)?

Not new, but worth repeating (as Dr Klass does well): early therapy/treatment for autism is essential. Get babies & toddlers in EARLY for therapy w concerns abt communication. Screen all toddlers at 18 months, many parents worry earlier & should be seen

I think this is the first time that doctors have been quick to a new platform used by teens and perhaps that’s why the numbers have been so high. We are getting better about meeting patients where they are. We need some benefit data, but anecdotally, teens are noticing.

Doctors & clinicians are using Tik Tok - generating tons of views/attention. Also getting tons of bullying/harassment bc of the voice for science they provide. We need a way to gauge how these views change ideas/ behavior (if they do) otherwise it’s hard for me to recommend it.
