Why hasn't she declared bankruptcy? It would wipe out all of this medical debt and her credit debt. The whole situation is garbage and that hospital should be ashamed of itself.

because filing for bankruptcy is expensive & when you're broke, you can't afford it. poverty is meant to keep people down as low as possible, with no chance to ever get out

No I know, I looked into it when I was drowning in medical bills and couldn't do it. There should be a legal aid office that walks people through it and discounts the cost to just the filing fees.

I lost my job in Jan 2017. Been unemployed since. Just went to court twice in last two months because I got sick w flu had nothing but an indemnity policy.
