One of the 3.8 megaton B39 nuclear warheads sent firing signal upon impact with ground. Airplane accidents-Goldsboro, Palomares (1966), & Thule (1968)-can create conditions similar to release. Only 1 of 4 safeties in Goldsboro incident worked: pilot safe/arm switch.
