I never trust anyone who uses the word "decimation" to denote total annihilation. Decimation was a punishment for a disloyal Roman legion where every 10th man was executed. That is 10 percent casualties inflicted judicially. Hardly annihilation. This is a pet peeve of mine.

and mine too (1/10th is pretty good if we're talking about nukes!!), though that is not really my issue with his statement (most people get "decimation" wrong)
