Previewed the new exhibit to former USS Growler crewmembers this morning. Was really pleased by their reactions. A guy who worked on the warhead: "yep, that's the warhead!" re: my warhead photo Another remark: "well, I guess the secret's out!" re: their patrol area & mission.https://twitter.com/wellerstein/status/994575651893137408 …

Also as I took a red-eye here from LAX to be back this morning, I was super excited to find that Intrepid Museum has a staff bunk room used by the security folks, and I could use it to take a nap. Feeling MUCH better! And the first time I have taken a nap on an aircraft carrier.

Also, I am REALLY quite pleased with how the exhibit came out. It really wasn't always obvious to me that it would cohere as well as it does, over the 2-year process of working on it, and today was the first day I saw it all put together in a final state. It's really good!

And I know I'm biased, because I worked on it. But I am also my own harshest critic, and I wouldn't say "it's really good!" if I didn't think it really was. The content and vibe just pulls off what we wanted it to. It is très Cold War.pic.twitter.com/l88VhOb0zJ

I think some highlights will be (or are) online but it's really an in-person experience. (The exhibit itself is free, though going onto the sub requires a museum ticket.)
