It would actually not be very hard to make this today as a digital/analog sort of box. Their hypothetical machine could not calculate many of the unknowns — you'd have to pre-calculate fallout an input the variables. So it could be definitely improved upon.

It's actually kind of painful for me to read their report. They basically want to make NUKEMAP. But they couldn't really pull it off with the technology they had in 1965. The task of drawing circles on a map in high-res dynamically is HARD for the time.

In 5th grade (1992) as an elective extra credit I plotted the blast radii of a handful of different nukes at the center of the world's 50 most populous cities. I got the estimates for different weapons from a book I can't remember. I got an A+, but probably got put on a list too.

Needless to say, when I discovered NUKEMAP several years ago, I played with it for hours on end. I was probably moved up the list a few spots.
