Honestly if any President was likely to do it, this is the one, since he doesn't really get history or the reason for US overseas commitments... I've wondered if DPRK has hit upon that.

I think the range of possible response is just so much greater now than it has been before and likely will be after; without a strong commitment to policy either way, a gamble on changing status quo seems both risky but also maybe the only time it could work
