Latest eBay acquisition: Time's "Man of the Year" cover from 1945, in which Harry Truman is knocked off of his own magazine cover by the atomic bomb. I've been using it in talks lately to illustrate the way in which Truman's legacy is inextricably wrapped up with the bomb.pic.twitter.com/4rpkE1UeyZ

Alex, was the iconic mushroom-cloud imagery associated with the atomic bomb not yet formed when this cover was created?

It's still a bundle of different imagery through 1945. I don't think the mushroom cloud really "cements" until post-Crossroads.
